Hi I’m Jan Turley The Travel Wrap Queen
I had been in the NZ fashion industry for years when 15 years ago something magical came across my desk. New Zealand merino. It really was like magic.
Why was that?
For the first time in my life I could wear wool next to my skin. No itching, no scratching, just softness and warmth.
For many years I travelled the world extensively looking at fashion trends and going to fashion trade shows in London and Europe and then interpreting what I saw into collections to supply NZ and Australian retailers.
Recently I realised the grind of finding new inspiration each season and all the travel was not what I wanted to be doing. I want to travel for fun!
Having so much experience in travelling and loving NZ merino I put 1+1 together and came up with a new and exciting plan.
NZ MERINO WOOL + TRAVEL= MERINO TRAVEL WRAPS.
My plan is to share my experience with you on both topics. We can have some fun.
My Travel Background
When I first used to travel from Auckland to London the quickest way took 4 flights.
Auckland – Hawaii, Hawaii – LA, LA – Athens, Athens – London.
Pan Am was the airline of choice, well, there really wasn’t any choice.
Certain days of the week the flights would go via Tehran instead of Athens. It was a bit off putting when instead of stretching my legs in Athens I would experience armed men coming onto the plane looking for goodness knows what. Clearly there was no duty free shopping in Tehran or a day or so discovering the city!
Remember Pan Am?
Thank goodness Air New Zealand now does it with one stop only.
Who doesn’t love to travel? The anticipation of a trip is almost as good as the trip itself…(sometimes better if you end up delayed in an airport for hours on end.) What do you take to wear so you look good at the end of a long flight? What can you take to wear in case it gets a bit chilly in airports or on the flight?
What can you snuggle up with?
I have dressed many women who travel the world on business or pleasure. Merino is such a versatile and luxurious fabric.
Merino travel wraps are soft, warm, light and of course look good too. These aren’t fluffy so don’t leave bits on your nice black pants. Have you ever tried wrapping one of the airline blankets around you when you are wearing black? Ughhh…..lots of fluff that is so pesky.
How about finding room for the jacket you thought you needed to keep warm on the flight only to get off the other end and it’s so hot so you have to try to stuff it into your carry on bag?
My merino travel wraps roll up and take the tiniest bit of space along with the other important things.
Do you work in air conditioning and you are constantly grabbing a cardigan or jacket off the back of your chair? These merino wraps are the answer to your air conditioning nightmares. Have one in your bag, whip it out, pop it on and suddenly you are transformed into cosiness.
Yes I have been in fashion for years. Each season I had to keep up with world fashion trends so travelled around the world constantly. It sounds glamorous but believe me it’s not. Whereas, travelling for pleasure is the icing on the travelling cake.
I have loads of practical travelling tips for you and will introduce you to some amazing experiences out there somewhere in the big wide world.
I also have some contacts that specialise in seeing New Zealand in luxury.
So grab your travel wrap and let’s have some fun.
to be continued…..
